Azul Latin Kitchen, Heavenly Village, South Lake Tahoe, Ca.

Azul Latin Kitchen opened in July of 2014!  I was so impressed with this place as it has a great ambiance, food with distinct flavors that absolutely melt in your mouth.  The dishes have a variety of “latin fusion with a caribbean/California twist”…..for those of you who are used to traditional style mexican food, once you come to Azul, you will never go back to the norm!!

The chef, Marc Vaccaro has completely mastered the fresh taste of the salsa’s, and the sauces used in the dishes. He’s travelled to Europe and has incorporated some European style of cooking which is exquisite. The prices are very reasonable and affordable!. For example you can get (3) tacos. I chose the coconut pork taco marinated in coconut and jalapeno’s, Thai curry taco and the DF Street taco.  I will tell you, I could hardly finish 2 tacos. The fresh ingredients and sauces are so filling; it’s amazing how fast I got full and I’m a big man!!

For starters, I ordered the guacamole and gluten free chips…I’ve been to a lot of restaurants and sampled their guacamole. By far and without doubt, this is the best guacamole I’ve tasted. There is an extensive menu with lots of types of entrees, salads, enchiladas, tacos, even a value meal for families.

As I sampled the various dishes, some wonderful flamingo music is playing in the background. The restaurant has a new, trendy feel with class, not the typical average decor that you may see in a lot of restaurants in Lake Tahoe. There are heat lamps outside the restaurant with a small fire pit to sit and enjoy eating lunch or having a drink in the evening. By the way, Happy Hour is every day from 2pm.-6p.m. There are about 4-5  big screen TV’s to watch the latest sports!  I had the Pomelo Cadillac margarita, which I highly recommend! Visit their website for  hours of operation and menu.
