Bridgetender Tavern and Grill, Tahoe City, Ca.~~ great place to dine!

What do ‘fanny’s and food have to do with each other? This restaurant kicks ‘fanny’ ha! ha! Let me explain: Thousands of sightseers daily stop to peer over the bridge across from the Bridgetender Tavern and Grill to view the schools of large rainbow trout that abound in the Truckee River. A local newspaper columnist renamed the bridge, ‘Fanny Bridge‘ as he claimed you could estimate the number of tourists in the area by the number of backsides he counted. Just a bit of trivia for you!

As I walked into the Bridgetender Tavern and Grill, I met the owner, Patti, who was very gracious and you could tell she loves being a part of this restaurant with all of its mountain charm and beauty. People of all ages frequent this place, including young families.  It sits along the Truckee River in Tahoe City, CA. Breakfast, lunch and dinner with indoor and outdoor patio dining. 15 beers on draught and the best burgers and bloody marys in Lake Tahoe. Bridgetender Tavern and Grill, also known as The BT, opened its doors on May 1, 1977. It was located next to the Tahoe City Dam, on the Truckee River, which is the only outlet from Lake Tahoe. Indoor and outdoor dining is still available as it was in 1977, with lunch and dinner served 7 days a week. In 2013, breakfast was added Friday to Sunday. After 25 years of successful operation and the conclusion of a 25 year lease, the old Bridgetender building was demolished and the new Bridgetender was constructed just 200 yards away along the Truckee River, where it is located now.

Bridgetender Tavern and Grill is known for its awesome hamburgers!! I had the ‘bleu cheese and bacon burger’~~need I say more! As a food critic, I’ve never tasted a more delicious hamburger and the portions are huge!! Other hamburger choices include; All natural bison burger, mushroom burger, avocado burger, Southwest burger, Rocky Mountain Elk burger, but there are so many other choices of delicious entrees. They serve appetizers, sandwiches, fresh salads and fresh mexicanfood.  Beyond, this, breakfast is also served Friday – Sunday.

IPA Magazine highly recommends! I will be back for breakfast. Wouldn’t you after looking at this ‘egg, biscuit and gravy dish’?
