American Century Championship July 10-July 14, 2024 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, South Lake Tahoe, Nevada
The American Century celebrity golf tournament returned to the beautiful shores of Lake Tahoe for its ’35’th year with one of it’s strongest fields in sports and entertainment in tournament history! A field of 91 participants competed in the 54 hole tournament. All told, there were 15 Hall of Famers, 15 active athletes (NBA, NHL, NFL and WWE), Grammy and Emmy Award winners. The Headliners included Travis Kelce, Tony Romo, Charles Barkley, Aaron Rodgers, Annika Sorenstam, Seth and Dell Curry, Ray Romano, Mardy Fish, Jake Owens to name a few and there were 15 first time participants; including Jason Kelce, Carson Daly, Austin Reaves.
NBC Sports had comprehensive coverage Friday through Sunday. The tournament was seen on NBC Sports, Peacock and Golf Channel. There was an all time attendance record of 77,049 during the tournament week.
Since the tournament’s inception in 1990, the American Century Championship has donated nearly $8 million to charity and non-profits. This event featured a $750,000 purse with many of the players donating their winnings to charities and non-profits.
Mardy Fish (former tennis US Davis Cup team captain and Olympic Silver Medalist ), won the tournament and recorded his best finish in 11 starts at the American Century Championship with 83 points, one point shy of the all time record of 84 points with Billy Joe Tolliver in 2010. Joe Pavleski (NHL) finished 2nd, Annika Sorenstam (LPGA) 3rd, John Smoltz (MLB) 4th, Derek Lowe (MLB) 5th. Mardy received a check for $150,000 out of the $750,000 purse.
