The Joseph House Inn (Bed and Breakfast) Bishop, Ca.
For me, it’s the essence of hospitality, comfort, beauty, delicious food, beautiful decor, lovely rooms and ambiance that pleases your senses, so you want to come back. Also a great location!
I recently found this at THE JOSEPH HOUSE INN in Bishop, Ca. By the way, this is the ONLY ‘Bed and Breakfast’ in Bishop. This is a rare jewel, that reminded me of an ‘oasis in the desert’. It’s a beautiful place that welcomes you; especially the hosts, Myriam, Hilde and Max. I felt like I knew them for years. Myriam, the daughter of Hilde and Max, runs the operation and is an outstanding host. You don’t want to miss her gourmet breakfast that is included in your stay. You will be graced with all of the comforts of home; a welcoming glass of wine or beer when you arrive, fresh flowers that adorn your bedroom, fine linens, thick cotton towels, hairdryers, plush robes, TV’s with DVD’s and wireless internet. This 4500 sq.ft. home sits on 3 lush acres and has a canal running through it. It has (5) amazing bedrooms, each with its unique beauty and attraction. Many guests from San Diego all the way up to Lake Tahoe have stayed here, and some come year after year. The town of Bishop, Ca. offers the sport enthusiast a wide variety of things to do; climbing, bouldering, hiking, fishing, backpacking, mountain biking, horseback riding, golfing, skiing. Lake Sabrina is nearby for boating and hiking with some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Eastern Sierra’s. When you come back after a long day of physical activities and are really tired, enjoy a private in-room massage. By the way, the Eastern Sierra’s are rated #2 for Fall Colors in the USA!!! Mid-September through mid-October, the natural landscape offers spellbinding contrasts of colors during autumn – golden, crimson and orange aspen and cottonwoods as far as you can possibly see! THE JOSEPH HOUSE INN is the perfect destination layover as skiers travel to Mammoth Lakes; only 43 miles away and those travelling to Yosemite Valley and South Lake Tahoe which are about 4 hours away. Besides being a great destination, THE JOSEPH HOUSE INN can accommodate private parties to include baby showers, birthdays, family gatherings and weekend retreats. The highlight of my stay, was talking with Hilde, Myriam’s mother. Hilde and her husband Max were the original owners of the Swiss Cafe in Mammoth Lakes, Ca., which they owned back in 1958. Many celebrities visited their restaurant on a frequent basis. Max is from Switzerland and Hilde from Germany. Hilde is a fascinating person to speak with. She and her husband are avid hikers, skiers, etc and are in excellent shape, plus they speak multiple languages!! They bought THE JOSEPH HOUSE INN in 1997. In the first few years, they put their heart and soul into this house and remodelled the home to make it the grand property it is today! The original owners, the Joseph’s, came from Germany and had the only mercantile store that supplied the surrounding cities with food, etc. back in 1913. The Joseph Market is still open and available to visit during your stay. To find out more about THE JOSEPH HOUSE INN . Feel free to email Myriam at: myriam@josephhouseinn.com or call her (760) 872-3389 or (760) 937-2103. She is usually very busy greeting guests and attending to the property, so a quick email is great!
All in all, I will be back to THE JOSEPH HOUSE INN. I hope you will too!
